2009 should not yield a ton of surprises when it comes to awards time. I predicted the mainstream awards which most will be excited  to see.  For example, Cinematography is an important award, but really not that sexy for the average watcher.  Here are the predictions with not a lot of shockers.

Best Picture: Slumdog Millionaire

Actor in a Leading Role:   Mickey Rourke

Actor in a Supporting Role:  Heath Ledger

Actress in a Leading Role:  Kate Winslet

Actress in a Supporting Role:  Penelope Cruz

Animated Feature Film:  WALL-E

Directing:  Slumdog Millionaire

Documentary:  Man on a Wire

Foreign Language Film:  Waltz with Bashir

Writing (Adpated  Screenplay):  Slumdog Millionaire

Writing (Original  Screenplay):  In Bruges

Hugh Jackman Prediction:  Host Hugh Jackman will be charming and funny.  I predict an entertaining evening.
