Synopsis: Ride shotgun with mysterious crime fighter Michael Knight (David Hasselhoff) and the hottest car on four wheels, K.I.T.T., as they chase elusive criminals in each action-packed episode. The heart-pounding second season of Knight Rider packs in even more thrills, more high-speed chases, and more full-throttle excitement with dynamic duo Michael Knight and K.I.T.T. in the action series.
Main Features: Knight Rider is definitely a time capsule show, capturing the essence of 80s broadcast television shows--the clothes, the cars, the hair. The best part is the technology--they are trying to make it seem like it is very much int he future (and they weren't far off, were they, Alexa?) but the methods makes it more 1980s than futuristic. Regardless, new technology has afforded the complete NBC series to be re-done and released in the 4K ultra-high-definition format. Presented in the original 4:3 ratio (black bars left and right), the show is an acquired taste content wise and a mixed bag video/audio wise, too. The presentation is fine, but the show isn't exactly one that begs for a nice UHD upgrade. Because of my age, I only remember the show at the end of it's run and in subsequent syndication. It's not something that I would be clamoring for, but I would be curious to see if those die-hard Michael Knight aficionados that concurrently also are techies would be able to ignore certain blemishes. This feels more like an upscale than an upgrade. Still, having the complete series for the most hardcore of fans will still satisfy the nostalgia.

Bonus Features: Season one's discs have some audio commentaries with some of the show producers/writers and star David Hasselhoff, as well as some brief featurettes,. While season two's discs offer no bonuses, the ones for seasons three and four have a few scant extras covering retrospective features. All have appeared in some form or other on previous releases. A bonus disc contains the lone new extra: ‘Knight Rider: Behind the Wheel,' an hour-long retrospective documentary that fans will thrive on.

Final Call: Knight Rider's 4K complete series debut might not be the full Kit and kaboodle but fans will still enjoy how it struts it's stuff.

Grade: C+
