Blu-ray Review: Dillinger

Synopsis: During the Great Depression, John Dillinger (Warren Oates), a ruthless, arrogant criminal, is the most wanted man in America. Along with his gang, which includes the likes of "Baby Face" Nelson (Richard Dreyfuss) and "Pretty Boy" Floyd (Steve Kanaly), he robs Midwestern banks and leaves a trail of devastation in his path. But Melvin Purvis (Ben Johnson), an unrelenting federal agent, is hot on the trail of Dillinger's gang, and will stop at nothing to bring them to justice.

Main Feature: This film has such a fun cast. Oates, Dreyfuss, Cloris Leachman, Harry Dean Stanton--Dillinger is a nice little movie having fun with it's cast. It isn't perfect or a masterpiece by any stretch, but it has it's enjoyable quirks that are fun thanks to the actors. It's campy but cozy. Oates gives the character exactly that. The Blu-ray is okay presentation-wise, but it adds tot he B-grade charm of the film. 

Bonus Features: Production photos and a trailer make the extras sparse. Considering the film is no classic, this is not at all surprising, considering Arrow did the full-on expansive edition some years ago. 

Final Call: Those looking to shoot this Dillinger down need to lighten up and just enjoy it's cast make the best of the campy final product.
