Synopsis: In this gritty, realistic sci-fi action epic, Godzilla returns to its roots as one of the world's most recognized monsters. Directed by Gareth Edwards and featuring an all-star international cast, this spectacular adventure pits Godzilla against malevolent creatures that, bolstered by humanity's scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence.
Main Features: The new incarnation of "Godzilla" was extremely likeable. I understand the criticism: why so little Godzilla in "Godzilla?" Imagine if the shark in "Jaws" was shown right away: you got to build towards something. The human element is what I found so compelling in this version of the giant monster. You had to have a good story and foundation to truly get enveloped by the gravity of the payoff. I thought it worked then, and still does now. In the 4K format, it certainly looks great. True, the darks of the image still could be improved (don't watch on a bright and sunny day without blackout curtains) but still are crisp. The sound design on my basic 5.1 setup growls nicely.

Bonus Features: The only extras are carryovers from the previous standard Blu-ray release, which is found as part of this 4K set. A UHD digital copy code slip is also included.

Final Call: 2014's "Godzilla" roars proudly onto the 4K format, with some amazing sound, while the film holds up as still good.

Grade: B+
