✰✰✰✰ (out of five)
Synopsis: Leslie, a West Texas single mother, struggles to provide for her son when she wins the lottery and a chance at a good life. But a few short years later the money is gone and Leslie is on her own living hard, she is forced to make a difficult choice.
Review: What can be said about Andrea Riseborough that hasn't already--but I'll try. Where the film may sag or suffer she elevates it from the flawless performance. In the hands of an incapable actress, this would've been unintentionally funny fodder, but Riseborough not only anchors it but gives the film credence from her craft. Oscar buzz? Yes, it's around. Who knows what will become of this little film that could. Riseborough is such a chameleon we can only expect the unexpected from her, in a good way.

Note: This film viewed after CCFF 2022 wrapped, when available for rent/purchase.
