Synopsis: In 1988, a new law stigmatizing gays and lesbians forces Jean, a closeted gym teacher, to live a double life. As pressure mounts from all sides, the arrival of a new student catalyzes a crisis that will push Jean to the edge.
Review: The attraction of "Blue Jean" is it's lead performance from Rosy McEwen. This movie is a slowburn of sorts. We know the eventuality of the plot but are held in such suspense and our attention is captured because of McEwan's vulnerability and passion. The film's pacing may throw some off (I had some minor issues with it), but McEwan is the star of this film. Duality becomes a major focus in this film, and McEwan deftly exudes it with precise, expert talent.

Note: This film screen in advance of CCFF 2023 showing.
